Gildas' Badon and Columba

(Introduction. Gildas' DEB is well known for its famous mention of the siege of Badon which is famous in literature about King Arthur. In looking for when and where the siege of Badon was fought one approach is to figure out the 44 years mentioned in the DEB of Gildas. One possible connection we found is that it might match the 45 years of Columba in the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle?)

This is probably wrong but it is an intriguing faint possibility.

Is the 44 years of Gildas connected with the 45 years of Columba? Are Gildas and Columba the same person?

Both connected with periods of 44/45 years which are connected with their birthdays/ages:
Gildas: In the DEB Gildas connects Badon with his birthday and a period of 40/43/44 years. (It is not certain whether the text means that Badon was 44 years from the arrival of the Saxons, or was 44 yrs before he wrote, and whether his birthday was 44 years before Badon or the same day as Badon.)
Columba: The ASC 560 entry has Columba 45 years old + 32 years = 77 years old. Furthermore, 560 - 45 = 515 which is almost exactly the same date as Badon 516/518 in the Welsh Annals. (Columba was born in 521 in the AC. Columba 521 (AC) to Columba 560/565 (ASC) = 44 yrs. Badon is 520 in one source.)
(Also, Columba means "dove" and he was at Iona which both connect with Jonah which means "dove". Jonah is connected with 40 days.
Columba is also connected with a pestilence in 544.)

Both important birthdays:
Gildas: his birthday linked with Badon in the DEB.
Columba: there are only 3 birthdays in the AC - those of Brigit 454, David 458, and Columba 521. (Columba's birth is also mentioned in the HB 16. Columba's birth is implied to be 517 in the ASC 560 entry.)

Both connected with similar battle place-name:
Gildas: connected with Badon.
Columba: Columba 560/565 is close to Wibbandune 568 in the ASC (and the synod of victory 569 in the AC).

Both similar ages:
Gildas: 69 or 78 yrs old in Evan's 'Arthurian Campaign'.
Columba: 77 yrs old in ASC 560 entry.

Both similarily moved on almost same date:
Gildas: moves to Ireland 565 (AC).
Columba: moves to Iona 560/565 (ASC)
Columba moves to Britain 562 (AC)

Both associated with similar place name:
Gildas: Some have suggested he wrote the DEB at Chichester or Portchester. [Portsdown Hill of Portchester maybe matches Badon hill of the HB?]
Columba: St Columba's church in Portadown.

Both associated with similar place name:
Gildas connected with Glastonbury.
Columba connected with Glasnevin.

Both associated with similar place name:
Gildas relics removed to Berry in 10th cent?
Columba patron St of Derry.

Both went to similar islands:
Gildas went to secret island Houat off Brittany.
(Gildas brother buried Anglesey.)
Columba went to island Hii/Iona off Britain (ASC).
[Columba: Inchcolm the "Iona of the East"?]

Both similar dates:
Gildas 421 (CMSM)?
Columba born 521 (AC).

Both were abbots: Columba: was an abbot (ASC 560). Gildas: was an abbot.

Both connected with date 516/518:
Gildas: connected with Badon which has date 516/518 in the AC.
Columba:
Birth of Columba 560 - 43 = 517 (ASC).
Columba was born 4 yrs before death of Brigit (HB), Brigit died in 521 (AC) which makes Columba born 516.

Both connected with each other: "Gildas was the teacher of Finnian, who in turn was the teacher of St Columba".

--------

* Various connections of Columba with 40/44 yrs:
40 yrs death of Patrick to death of Bridget & 4 yrs birth of Columba to death of Bridget (HB).
Columba "dove" & Iona "dove" linked with Jonah "dove" who is linked with 40 days in the Bible.
77 yrs old minus 32 yrs = 43 yrs old Columba (ASC 560 entry).
(Benedict shines 482 (ASC) + 77 (45 + 32) yrs Columba 560 (ASC)?)
43 yrs Columba 521 (AC) to Columba/Ida 560/565 (ASC).
Pestilence 544 ad (Columba).
Benedict shines 482 (ASC) + 40 yrs = Columba born & Brigit died 521 (AC).
